Downs and Ups

Today I started the Health Policy class for the doctoral nursing students. It was scheduled so that MSN students could audit the class. About six of them stayed, but only two of the eight registered doctoral students came to the class. After lunch only the two doctoral students came back. While it seems like a lot of work for little outcome, i enjoyed meeting these two students and will continue to work with them on an individual basis while they do the assignment for this course. I had worried for weeks about this course. Our history in the United States is so different from that of Central Europe when it comes to working in the political sector. I will have good stories to bring back to Minnesota students when I teach this same type of course next spring semester.

With fewer students I could move much faster and so don't have to get up and teach tomorrow, nor do they have to come tomorrow!

What a surprise when I got back to Szechenyi Ter. Things have really changed today.

This area became accessible today and the thought that went through my mind was "If you build it, they will sit." It is going to be interesting to see how people use these new spaces.

Here is the street view facing to the south. It seems huge without the construction fences, piles of building blocks, trucks and workers.
Walking a few more steps I came to the Zsolany Fountain, finally out of its winter/protective covering. Any travel book about Pecs will have a content about this fountain, and now I truly understand why. It is very beautiful.

Here is a close-up of one side of the fountain.

I wandered down to see what progress is being made on Kossuth Ter. It's not quite ready for "prime time" yet, but it shouldn't be much longer. There is about two blocks of street yet to reconstruct in that area as well. But with so much of the other work done, there will be plenty of workers to put on the street reconstruction.

What fun to see it finally coming together.
